Jakarta - PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Limited) ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture to transport beef from production centers in eastern Indonesia.
"We are ready because a cargo plane from western and eastern Indonesia flight was full, while they return was empty. We can optimize it," said Rudy.
Rudy also said that the aircraft used is a plane that serves flights west to east that has enough cargo capacity. He also hopes that this cooperation could increase then the cost revenue of Merpati by 25%
Minister of Agriculture, Suswono hoping sincerity of BUMN such Pelni, PT Garuda Indonesia Airlines Tbk (GIAA) and Merpati to give a discount to transport beef from eastern Indonesia..
"Will there be some sort of discount in the price of transporting beef from NTT and NTB, and East Java to use KA transported in the form frozen beef. So there must be discounted. Merpati are also ready to transport from other areas and there is a discount to Jakarta. If this happens, local meat could compete with meat imports, "he said.
Executive Vice President Commercial PT Merpati, Sutan Banura, said the transportation route of beef from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and Makassar to cities in Java such as Jakarta and Surabaya.
Regarding the transport fare, said Sutan not have to worry, because it said they would provide incentives.
"On price, we will be giving an incentive, if the amount of meat a lot. Currently we provide transportation fare per kilo price of IDR 9000 from NTB to Jakarta. Rates for Makassar to Surabaya IDR 5000 per kilo," he explained.
